A warm, cosy bonfire night

Image
Bonfire night is one of my favourite nights of the year, this end of the year is my favourite because there's always something going on, Halloween had just finished and bonfire night was just around the corner. I realise I'm a little late posting this, but absolutely had to when I was looking back through my photos. Abbey park fireworks is all the rage in Leicester, it's "the place" to go. But the last few years it seems to have lost it's magic. We started to go to the one in Whetstone at the Vipers ground and it is the best firework show I've ever seen. They go so overboard with the fireworks despite it being quite a small, intimate place, there's a small fair, an even smaller BBQ (but the queue is relatively fast) and plenty of beer (whilst being predominantly child friendly). I absolutely love it there, the bonfire is so huge and the heat that comes off of it is almost unbearable but I love being warm, wrapped up in coat and bobble hat, drink in han...

Hello November

Image
The start of a new month could not have come soon enough. October turned out to be a really rough month for me, but I'm optimistic going into November, I know I'm going into it with some struggles and setting new goals is going to be hard but I'm still aiming to have a good month. One of my October goals was to get a job. I did get a job before we went to Ibiza but I had to turn it down as it isn't practical for me anymore. I had another interview but was rejected, and had an amazing interview today which I'm waiting to hear back from. I was hoping to achieve 200 followers on instagram this month, but after having a rough few weeks I haven't been working on my blog or socials so I don't feel I worked for it, yet I somehow made it, to 195 followers! Which I am so proud of. I also wanted to start prepping for Blogmas which I have done, I believe three posts are already written. Lastly I was really struggling with my body confidence going on holiday in Ibiza a...

Hello October

Image
Oh October, I have been excitedly awaiting your appearance. The leaves are coming down, it's been raining non stop, it's gloomy by midday and conkers are scattering the parks. Many pumpkin spiced lattes have been drunk and the jumpers have been dragged out from hibernation. It is well, and truly, autumn. I'm sat in the bar my boyfriend works in, with a cup of tea in hand, a orange warm glow from the lights inside, and the bitter, dull, rainy weather is blustering away outside. It's the first of October, although this will be published on the second, I am sat reflecting on September, the goals I made, and my new goals for this month. I'd written a 'hello September' post last month where I discussed some goals I'd like to achieve over the four weeks, today I'm going to review them and set some new ones for the month of October, which is going to be an exciting, busy month. Last month I signed up to a little vegan programme, and for the most ...

A s'morey night in

Image
I've not posted in a few days because I've decided to try out a proper schedule, I'm going to post Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays and see if that works well, Last week we checked off another item from our autumn bucket list. We had a cosy night in, making s'mores and popcorn and watching horror movies, wrapped up in blankets, the window open a little bit, and the candles lit. We re-watched IT because we loved it so much, and I got J to watch The Lost Boys, as he'd never seen it before. The Lost Boys is one of my all time favourite movies and "death by stereo" is one of my favourite quotes ever too. To make our s'mores we bought rich tea biscuits, I had vegan chocolate but J used nutella, then we toasted our marshmallows over the stove and piled it all together. I know I'm vegan/transitioning vegan, and that marshmallows have gelatine in, but I couldn't find any alternatives and really wanted this s'mores night. I figured a cheat day ...

8 Reasons I am excited for autumn

Image
I've posted a few posts on here, my Twitter, and my Instagram claiming my sheer excitement with autumn this year and I felt the urge to do another little list type, cosy, autumnal post to put y'all in the mood for the season just a little bit more. Especially as we are now in the "official" autumn period, Because I just Can Not Get Enough Of autumn This year. So, I've decided to write out some of the things I'm excited for, have been enjoying, and the things I've been thinking about nonstop since August came to an end: 1, Mornings. I love autumnal mornings because they're so much fresher than summer, the sun is starting to get lower in the sky which casts a warm glow over everything, it's cooler so it feels nice to wrap up in a blanket and enjoy a morning cuppa in the garden, it's slightly crisp, beautiful, and fresh. I love autumnal mornings. 2, The colours. Obviously. I feel like autumn is the time ginger people  thrive, becau...

Cute things to do in autumn - Go cinema to see IT 2 (a little review)

Image
Me and my boyfriend made friends earlier this year with another couple who really love the film IT, with the buildup of the new film being released this year, we too got excited about it and decided to give it a watch. Me and J aren't big horror film fanatics, I like to watch a few come this time of year just to feel spooky and cosy, but finding a good horror film is so hard because I find they generally lack strong storylines, overuse gore to try and scare audiences, and use build ups as their main scare feature that then let's me down come the end when the reality of the film isn't actually that scary. After watching the first IT I felt that it had really captured what a good horror movie should be, it was paced very well, had a really good build up of scary moments and the end scene was incredible. I loved the fact that the characters never seemed to become "heroes" it felt very realistic with the way the group dealt with Pennywise instead of them suddenly k...

Cute things to do in Autumn

Image
As it is now well into September, officially spooky season, officially my cosy, favourite season. It's time for cosy posts again. I was having a conversation with my boyfriend about how excited we are to be getting the cinnamon candles out and fluffy pjs and spooky movies and I started planning out all our cute little 'fall dates' I want us to go on, then I figured, as I love lists so much, and I love autumn blog posts so much, I should write up all my plans and 'bucket list' for autumn. I know seasonal bucket lists are such a 2012 thing to do but I still love them and I love anything autumn/Christmas related and I will forever write lists till the day I die. So here are some things I'm planning to do this Autumn. - Go to a corn maze. I don't live to far from Wistow maze and I've wanted to go for years but never got round to it. This year I'm hoping to make sure I go with J as a cute little date. - Go cinema for a horror movie. The plan wa...

Hello September

Image
As much as I am a summer girl, I love the warm weather, I love the beach and the sea and not feeling cold every time I leave the house -there's just something about autumn/winter. I'm always so excited to start wearing baggy sweaters, woolly jumpers, boots, and anything burgundy, whilst having all the pumpkin spiced lattes, cinnamon candles and dark evenings with endless movies. Or mostly I just like collecting conkers and walking on crunchy leaves, and having my halloween playlist on repeat but there we are. September for me, because it's the back to school era, it feels like a (somewhat overdue) mid-year fresh start, and after my last post and my plan to start anew, I was just itching to have a little September goals, 'welcome to the new season' kind of post. So here is a little list of my personal goals I want to achieve this September: - I signed up this month to a month long vegan challenge. I'm new to trying out a vegan lifestyle but have been cut...
