April's monthly round up

Image
And then suddenly it was May. I thought I'd do a little goals update post today, it's already been 4 whole months since we were making resolutions in January and this year has panned out to be a little different than expected... April turned out to be a very welcome wake up call for me. I found I'd lost sight of a lot of my goals and got sucked into the "people pleaser" side of myself again. So after reaffirming my goals, teaching myself to be selfish again and opening up about things I've been dealing with privately for a very long time, I'm ready to have a look at my goals and start making some new smaller ones to achieve my overall bigger picture. Going to add a quick trigger warning here, in my "become stronger" paragraph, I'm going to briefly talk about disordered eating and body issues, so skip that section if it could cause harm to you. Other than that, here's a review of my goals: Write more So one of my goals this year w...

8 Mental health goals for 2020

Image
I feel as though I'm really neglecting my blog at the moment, I've been so consumed by my new job I haven't been thinking of posts to write, I haven't had that "I could make this into blog post" mindset and my blog has, in turn, took a backseat in my mind. Today's post however is being brought to you because I've had an odd sort of few weeks. I've been experiencing intense anxiety resulting in me dropping off the face of the planet, ghosting my friends, and being confined to my bedroom whenever I'm not working.  I wouldn't say I feel particularly out of control of my mental health, however decided that today I would make a trip to the doctors and see what they thought. And here I am now making this post. The most important goal for me this year is to fall back in love with life, to gain my life back, and work wholly on myself. I had a goal to come off of my antidepressants this year, and after today I had to a bit of a kick in the t...

My 2020 goals.

Image
Happy first day of 2020. This year is a big year for me, it's a year of facing fears, setting and achieving goals, becoming my own person again and falling in love with the little things in life once more. I've mentioned so much that 2019 was tough. 2020 is the year I get myself back, heal from my mental breakdown, and become a brand new person. I love writing these posts, I've been doing them for years now. I start with going back at my goals I set at the start of 2019, evaluate how well I did with them, then set my new goals for the following year. One of my favourite posts of the year. Let's go! 1. "Get my damn tattoo!" I'd been so desperate to get my Peter Pan tattoo since I was 18 and finally legal. But something in me stopped me going. This year I definitely achieved that goal, and got a total of three tattoos. I spoke more about them in my previous post. 2. "To not give up" I was well and truly being defeated by my mental brea...

Blogmas Day 3: My goals over December

Image
In September I did a list of all the things I wanted to do in autumn. I really liked doing it, and actually it gave me a guide for when I had a free day, to go back to that post and do something I knew I wanted to do. So as Christmas is such a busy period, I thought I'd do the same so I can come back and remember a few of the things I wanted to do this holiday season. I don't know how much free time I'll have this December due to starting full time work, but this is my Christmas goals/bucketlist: - Go to a Christmas market. I love Christmas markets, they're my favourite days out, I went to one on my 19th birthday and it was one of my favourite days ever. - Ice skate. I know, I have terrible luck when it comes to ice skating (after smashing my two front teeth last time) but I love to go ice skating, I'm not actually too bad at it and I started learning to skate backwards last time! - Have a gingerbread house contest. I have wanted to do this for years and I d...

Hello November

Image
The start of a new month could not have come soon enough. October turned out to be a really rough month for me, but I'm optimistic going into November, I know I'm going into it with some struggles and setting new goals is going to be hard but I'm still aiming to have a good month. One of my October goals was to get a job. I did get a job before we went to Ibiza but I had to turn it down as it isn't practical for me anymore. I had another interview but was rejected, and had an amazing interview today which I'm waiting to hear back from. I was hoping to achieve 200 followers on instagram this month, but after having a rough few weeks I haven't been working on my blog or socials so I don't feel I worked for it, yet I somehow made it, to 195 followers! Which I am so proud of. I also wanted to start prepping for Blogmas which I have done, I believe three posts are already written. Lastly I was really struggling with my body confidence going on holiday in Ibiza a...

Ibiza diaries: Our anniversary

Image
I've missed my blog so much! And proper cups of tea! I'm so sad to have left Ibiza but also so happy to have my British comforts back. I'm on my second holiday right now and although I'm having the best time away from my very hated home town, I'm missing normality so terribly. I (obviously) went completely overboard with the photos I took in Ibiza, so I'm having to break up my Ibiza post practically day by day. This was day one... We set off for Ibiza on October 5th, which was our official one year anniversary day. We had an early morning flight and landed in Ibiza at roughly 10am, which meant we practically had the whole day left. We'd planned to eat out a lot at local bars and restaurants so opted for self catering which meant we spent a lot more money but we enjoyed it so much. We stayed on the opposite side of the 'party' part of the island, where it was more cultural. Ibiza's main culture is hippie and it was insanely beautiful and exa...

Hello October

Image
Oh October, I have been excitedly awaiting your appearance. The leaves are coming down, it's been raining non stop, it's gloomy by midday and conkers are scattering the parks. Many pumpkin spiced lattes have been drunk and the jumpers have been dragged out from hibernation. It is well, and truly, autumn. I'm sat in the bar my boyfriend works in, with a cup of tea in hand, a orange warm glow from the lights inside, and the bitter, dull, rainy weather is blustering away outside. It's the first of October, although this will be published on the second, I am sat reflecting on September, the goals I made, and my new goals for this month. I'd written a 'hello September' post last month where I discussed some goals I'd like to achieve over the four weeks, today I'm going to review them and set some new ones for the month of October, which is going to be an exciting, busy month. Last month I signed up to a little vegan programme, and for the most ...

Hello September

Image
As much as I am a summer girl, I love the warm weather, I love the beach and the sea and not feeling cold every time I leave the house -there's just something about autumn/winter. I'm always so excited to start wearing baggy sweaters, woolly jumpers, boots, and anything burgundy, whilst having all the pumpkin spiced lattes, cinnamon candles and dark evenings with endless movies. Or mostly I just like collecting conkers and walking on crunchy leaves, and having my halloween playlist on repeat but there we are. September for me, because it's the back to school era, it feels like a (somewhat overdue) mid-year fresh start, and after my last post and my plan to start anew, I was just itching to have a little September goals, 'welcome to the new season' kind of post. So here is a little list of my personal goals I want to achieve this September: - I signed up this month to a month long vegan challenge. I'm new to trying out a vegan lifestyle but have been cut...
