Self care Sunday: Florence by mills review

Image
I do love a good self care Sunday. There's something about having a little reset day before taking on Monday and setting goals for the new week.  I also love a me-time day. I don't get much of it at the moment because whenever I'm not working I'm trying to fill my days up with plans with friends, running errands, writing or going to the gym. A lot of things are slipping through my fingers and not getting done and the weeks are whizzing by, so it's nice just to dedicate Sunday to slowing time down a bit and taking care of me. Despite me actually working on Sundays. So I got home from work, changed into my dressing gown like the grandma I am, made a cuppa and started filling the bath. I recently bought a face mask from the Millie Bobby Brown collection, Florence and really loved it. I knew I needed to talk about it on my blog because I'm such a huge fan of Stranger Things and MBB, I had high hopes for her brand and was surprised by the genuine quality of it and...

Currently Listening To...

Image
So I haven't done one of these posts in forever.  I used to love my Monday mornings, sat down with a cuppa and chatting about the music I'd been listening to the past week. A whole lot has changed in my life since then that it almost feels weird to look back at it now, I've been a whole three other personalities since the old Currently Listening To's. Music has always been a huge part of my life and the songs I listen to always have some deep meaning to me, which is where these posts started. I was so terrified to let people see the dark corners of my mind by talking about my favourite songs, but I love picking songs to pieces and talking about how and why they impact me, so alas, Currently Listening To was born. They're some of my most read posts and favourite to write about so that's why I've decided to reboot them up again! My music taste is going through an odd sort of stage right now, I've been listening to a lot of songs about being independent...

Cute things to do in autumn - Go cinema to see IT 2 (a little review)

Image
Me and my boyfriend made friends earlier this year with another couple who really love the film IT, with the buildup of the new film being released this year, we too got excited about it and decided to give it a watch. Me and J aren't big horror film fanatics, I like to watch a few come this time of year just to feel spooky and cosy, but finding a good horror film is so hard because I find they generally lack strong storylines, overuse gore to try and scare audiences, and use build ups as their main scare feature that then let's me down come the end when the reality of the film isn't actually that scary. After watching the first IT I felt that it had really captured what a good horror movie should be, it was paced very well, had a really good build up of scary moments and the end scene was incredible. I loved the fact that the characters never seemed to become "heroes" it felt very realistic with the way the group dealt with Pennywise instead of them suddenly k...

Jet Black Heart & She's Kinda Hot EP Reaction/Review

Image
Today is a good day. Music wise. I have been blessed with 5 new 5sos songs, also Halsey's album came out today and although I'm too poor to buy it, I'm so excited to listen to it, because I can't wait to hear the story she has to tell. I really enjoyed writing a bit about She's kinda hot when it came out, and Fly away when that came out afterwards. So as soon as 5sos said they were releasing a new song off the album, and the EP was released today, the first thing I thought was blog post.  I'll start with Jet Black Heart. Fans are describing it as 'the only reason and wrapped around your finger had a baby and that baby became emo.' Because the only reason and wrapped around your finger are Michael's songs, his moment to shine in full glory. Michael has a really good voice, it's so gritty and dark and it's raspy and it's mysterious. So naturally Jet Black Heart, which is a dark song, sang mostly by Michael, it's just.. guaranteed to ...

5SOS: Fly Away Reaction/Review

Image
5 Seconds of Summer have just dropped a bomb on us. Last night they released their new album pre-order, date and cover art. Us fans have been waiting so long! And when they said 'October 23rd' I was whaaaat! That's ages away! But it's really not, and to think it's suddenly so close to October, I think it's 71/72 days away until the release.. the year has gone so quick! So here's a quick whip up of what I think of the new song: Fly Away. I woke up this morning and I was scrolling on twitter and I JUST, JUST  caught a tweet saying an Australian radio show was about to play a new 5sos song. So I tuned in as quick as I could, I caught it by three minutes. I'm so lucky. They played the song and awwwww my god!!! It's so good. Someone had recorded it and put it on soundcloud which I've been repeating since I found it, and I now know all the lyrics.. The song starts with Calum, he sings a good portion of the song which I love , and the very beginning...

Future Hearts All Time Low Album Review

Image
I mentioned doing this in Monday's post, but then I thought about it and I wasn't sure whether to or not but I've definitely decided to do it now just because I've never been so obsessed with something in my entire life. This whole week I've done nothing but listen to this album over and over it's definitely the best album I've ever heard I love everything about it. I've never seen anyone do a review on an album before on a blog (not the blogs that I read) so I don't know what I'm 'supposed' to do, I'm just going to write my thoughts on each song then the album as a whole. Also this is not the deluxe album, there are thirteen songs on this one (the only fault I can find with this album -I hate the number thirteen). source Can we first talk about how beautiful this vinyl is!!!!! It came up on my Tumblr and I cried a little bit... First song, Satellite . this song is such a perfect opening for the album, it starts laid ba...
