Snow Day

Image
Finally!!! There's snow! The only two things that get me through winter is Christmas and snow days, since Christmas is long gone I'm relying purely on the chance of snow to carry me to summer and today we've finally had some. Last winter it didn't snow at all, and this winter weren't looking like it was going to either but my prayers have finally been answered. It's not the best snow, it wasn't the fluffy type that you can make snowman with but it was really crunchy and amazing to walk on. I instantly started taking photos the second I woke up and I had a really busy day running errands everywhere, but by the end of the day it had all melted. Sad face. It's supposed to snow a lot more soon so hopefully I'll be uploading snowman photos at some point *fingers crossed* Shan x

Bradgate In The Winter

Image
This past Saturday was one of those days where you just needed to get out of the house for a bit and do something, so we spent the day wrapped up in wintery clothes trekking up Bradgate park. Bradgate park is a huge thing over here, everyone goes in the winter, everyone goes in the summer. It's just a park with lots of fields and climbing rocks and rivers and then two castles which are its' main features. Deer roam freely around the park as well as rabbits but they're only seen in the summer. The park is beautiful in the summer, there's ice cream stands and all the kids play in the rives (knee deep at most) and make rock pools and catch fish. There's ducks to feed, places to sunbathe, and bracken fields grow everywhere which can be really tall and we all climb through it like a maze -but inside the bracken are grass snakes so we have to be careful not to be bitten, I love it there at summertime and some of my fondest childhood memories originate from here. Currently Listening To...

Image
I love music, so many songs mean so much to me and I'm constantly falling in love with new bands and singers. There's so much music in the world and I want to listen to all of it (which I know is impossible) but I never get round to listening to new stuff because I love my favourites too much, and it's hard to leave my favourite for a second to try out a new band or singer. However I've decided to encourage myself into listening to new stuff by trying out a series, every Monday I'm going to post about songs that I've been enjoying a lot the past week. Hopefully the aim is to not to be listening to the same songs every week but expanding my range of taste. This week I will start with Fall out boy's new album, if I could put every single song up here I would because the entire album is amazing, but I'm only going to write about the main three I've had on constant repeat; Immortals - Fall out boy Favourite record  - Fall out boy Jet pack b

Five Years Old...

Image
As part of my backlogged posts, my brother's birthday party finally has it's time to shine on my blog. I cannot get my mind to comprehend the fact he is 5, when people say 'they grow so fast' they really mean it. And it's such a cliche thing to say that I remember going to hospital for the first time and holding this fragile little body in my arms wrapped up in this soft blue blanket that still  remains his favourite to this day. He's an independent little boy now and the past 5 years of my life don't even seem to have existed as time has simply whizzed by. I didn't get to take many photos of the party as most were Polaroids but he spent his birthday in your typical soft play area with a class full of best friends, and when I snuck in for a cheeky play I was greeted by lots of 'you won't fit through there' 'you're too big for this' and 'you're not allowed in here' gotta love kids and their honesty...  Shan

Girl Online: Book Review

Image
So I realise it is very, very  late to be posting this as the book did  come out on November 25th, but I didn't get it until Christmas and I enjoyed it too much not to write anything about it.  I know there's been a lot of "controversy" about who actually wrote the it, but I honestly read the entire book in Zoe's voice. She said from the start she was getting help with because obviously she isn't an author but I thought the book was great!  It's your typical teenage fairy-tale, going to another country and falling for a guitar-strumming American and he shows you all his favourite hidden spots of this new country and he has this sad back story that he pours out to you, but then he has this mysterious side, something's different about him...  I'd predicted the outcome of the story as soon as I picked it up, but there is a twist towards the end which I didn't see happening and then another twist in the last few pages which I also didn't se

Shopping Dayyyy!

Image
On Monday (backlogging my posts because I was too ill to post) I had just started to feel better, and you know that first day of feeling slightly human again when you make a rush to do something amazing with your day because you are capable of walking again and seeing the sun and you crave the feeling of the wind on your face... I had that. Though in reality I was too ill to be having an intense shopping day and I spent most of the time complaining of a headache and in boots buying myself medicine. So at 9am I was up and throwing clothes on (and my docs of course) to go up town. Me personally, didn't get much but we bought my brother so much stuff (he's 5) we brought him his first pair of vans and loads of clothes and stuff but I'm just going to show the things I got (which wasn't much) Starting with something I've wanted for so  long, if you don't know what one of these are, it's kind of like a poncho, but it's pretty much a blanket and you wrap it

The 'Mega Flu'

In the last post I said I was ill, after that I went instantly downhill and caught what I like to call the 'Mega Flu' for three days this past week I was so ill I couldn't physically do anything , walk, talk, sit, drink, eat, or even look at a screen. I could do nothing but lie in bed and sleep because everything else felt like it might kill me. I haven't been able to post because I've been so ill, so naturally I have a build up of posts to post. And I'm doing it in backwards order but starting with today because I feel the need to get today off my chest. Today was the start of a new college week -and also client night, so I didn't get home 'till almost 9pm. The actual college day was a good day but I'd been dreading the build up of client night as I has two clients in and I didn't know either of them. But I ended up only doing one, and then at the very last second my client got swapped...    I'm cringing already thinking about what ha

Sick Day Essentials

Image
For the past week I've had a chest infection and an awful cold, and today I woke up (at two o'clock in the afternoon) feeling really flu-ey. To say I feel like death would be a massive understatement. And I wanted to do a post on some of the adventurous things I get up to when I have a 'sick day'. For starters, my 5sos CD has been playing since I woke up, but generally sick days are all about the movie marathons in bed, or watching a complete series (a lot of American Horror Story is played on sick days). And you always need a cuddle buddy when you're ill, my (forever and always) cuddle buddy choice is my build-a-bear that my best friend gave me for Christmas. His name is Mikey Clifford.. No particular reason why... wink wink. Oh my God I'm such a weirdo -here's a super cheesy photo of today's movie marathon and Mikey. The most important thing to do on sick days is nothing , pj's must be worn all day (especially fleecy batman ones), ha

Seaweed-Shannon

Image
The first week back at college is officially over! *cheers, screams, and rolls around in fields of gold* and I'd thought I'd do a post to celebrate my happy mood.   Previously I've mentioned dying my hair blue but I never said any more about it. I've now had blue hair (completely finished and done) since 31st December but somehow I've waited this long to post about it.. I'm absolutely in love  with it it didn't actually take that well to my hair if I'm completely honest, I don't know if it was the dye or just that ginger hair is hard to dye because it's so pigmented. But my hair looks really cool, it's only dyed certain strands so it's kind of like highlighted dip dye. And the underneath of my hair is more a faded green then the outside is a bright turquoise. People at college have nicknamed me "seaweed" because of my hair and I love it haha. They also say I'm like Michael Clifford and that, is something I can't complai

Attempting to organise (+a rather handsome coffee cup named Steve)

Image
A big part of my resolutions this year was to be a lot more organised, this has massively failed so far because tomorrow is the day I go back to college and I have nothing ready for it, because somehow going out to see a family friend seemed a more wise decision at the time. I did that  I'll still have time   to do it later  thing...    However I have actually made measures to be more organised. Thinking about it now, it seems really stupid to think this is my attempt at organising -like everyone else does this every year anyway . But, I bought a calendar, so I can write dates and things to do, and it's right on top of my bed so everyday I wake up and see it. I've already written on it that I need to print two assignments off at college tomorrow because I know I'll forget to do it (I have the WORST memory)   -If anyone knows what calendar this is then I LOVE YOU!     I'm also -currently- using a notebook as a diary, which will be replaced when I find a diary
